Semi-Senior Accountant

Full time: 9am-5pm (35 hours)

Location: Bovey Tracey

The role will include:

  • working as part of a small team reporting to the Directors and assisting junior staff
  • Preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships, Limited companies & LLP’s
  • Preparing personal tax returns and Corporation Tax returns
  • Preparing and reviewing bookkeeping, VAT returns and Management Accounts
  • Preparing payroll
  • Meeting with clients
  • Dealing with daily phone calls and email correspondence both internally and externally
  • Other ad hoc administration tasks

Knowledge, skills and attributes required:

  • Confident, team player with a genuine interest in the profession
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
  • Able to demonstrate initiative
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience of using cloud based systems including sageone and XERO
  • Comfortable working with figures 
  • Analytical and methodical in approach to work 
  • Willing to ask questions when unsure

Academic requirements

  • Grade B or above in Maths and English at GCSE level or equivalent
  • A Levels or equivalent preferred
  • AAT Level 4 preferred
  • Previous accountancy practice experience (minimum 2 years)
